Our Club concentrates on service and fellowship.
Our lunchtime meeting is at the Hotel Grand Chancellor by the Hobart docks from 1 – 2pm every Thursday.
Service
We raise around $100 000 each year for charitable purposes.
We do this from a variety of activities:
- Art show – provides local artists with the opportunity to exhibit their works in a staged venue. Money is raised by the auction of pieces of artwork, and from a commission on any works sold
- Magic show – local businesses buy tickets to the international Chuck Jones Company extravaganza, for donation to children's groups, with the Club, promoter and performers sharing in ticket revenue
- Sail day – yacht owners donate their boats and crew for a day-long fully catered cruise on the River Derwent. Boats are sold to corporate sponsors for the day.
The funds raised go to many charities:
- Australian Rotary Health Research Fund
- Bridgewater Police & Citizens Youth Club
- Bethlehem House
- Clarendon House
- Derwent Sea Scouts Group
- Edmund Rice Camps
- Interplast Tasmania
- Mentor Resources
- Opportunity International
- Red Cross Roadhouse
- Rotary Foundation
- Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation
- Young Endeavour Scholarship.
We believe it is important that every dollar donated to or raised by the Club goes to charity – all members' fees are paid in full by the members themselves, and all work done by members is on a voluntary basis
