The Rotary Club of Hobart is involved in a range of fundraising activities, and principal among those are:

The Annual Magic Show

Convenor: Stephen Shirley

Each year since 1991, the Rotary Club of Hobart has co-oordinated and hosted a World Festival of Magic. United States magician, Chuck Jones, who in turn is supported by new magic acts each year, heads this international standard magic show. The Show has grown in stature and popularity, with tickets sponsored by local, southern Tasmanian businesses and professional people, together with sections of State and Local Government. The sponsored tickets are then donated on behalf of those sponsors to local care and community help organisations who provide the tickets to their clients and residents. In this way, many people, the young and the not so young, have the opportunity to enjoy a world-class magic performance that might otherwise have been beyond their means.

The Rotary Sail Day

Convenor: Graeme Costelloe

The Club's annual Rotary Sail Day is an increasingly popular and very effective fundraiser. The event generates considerable revenue as a result of the generous sponsorship of the yacht owners, skippers and crews, all of whom donate their time and efforts. Tasmanian businesses and groups "purchase" a yacht for the Sail Day, and then enjoy a day of gentle sailing and fine food and drink around Hobart's magnificent Storm Bay.
The Sail Day continues to exceed budget expectations thanks to this great support, and the very hard work of the organising committee lead by Past President Graeme Costelloe and his team, and the energetic activity of our Club volunteers in the provisioning of the yachts just before they set sail on the day.
Annual Art Show

Convenor: Jillian Freeman

The Art Show gets underway each year with a first-class welcoming cocktail party and official opening, at which an auction of donated items is held, and the prestigious "Ted Pool Memorial Prize" is awarded to an aspiring artist from one of Hobart's secondary colleges.
For many years the Club's annual Art Show has provided local artists with the opportunity to exhibit their works in a staged venue. Money is raised by the opening night auction, and from a commission to the Club on works sold during the weekend of the Show.
The Art Show Committee is undertaking a major sponsorship drive and will be introducing the Art Show and its benefits to as many businesses as possible throughout the year.
While the event generates modest income for the Club it is an ideal avenue for artists to raise their profile with an appreciative audience, and is a community activity well regarded by Club members and the artistic community.
