The Art Show gets underway each year with a first-class welcoming cocktail party and official
opening, at which an auction of donated items is held, and the prestigious "Ted Pool Memorial
Prize" is awarded to an aspiring artist from one of Hobart's secondary colleges.
For many years the Club's annual Art Show has provided local artists with the opportunity to
exhibit their works in a staged venue. Money is raised by the opening night auction, and
from a commission to the Club on works sold during the weekend of the Show.
The Art Show Committee is undertaking a major sponsorship drive and will be introducing the
Art Show and its benefits to as many businesses as possible throughout the year.
While the event generates modest income for the Club it is an ideal avenue for artists to
raise their profile with an appreciative audience, and is a community activity well
regarded by Club members and the artistic community.
