A Brief History of the Probus Club of Hobart

The Club was formed on 5 October 1982. Les Thirgood was the first president and the late Max Lyall the vice-president; approximately 60 members attended the inaugural meeting.

The meetings are held at 10:00am on the first Tuesday of the month and are at present held at the Sandy Bay Bowls Club, Ashfield Street Sandy Bay.

Membership is mainly by introduction.

The activities of the Club are many and varied and include:

Monthly visits to points of interest Golf activity club other clubs combined
Monthly guest speakers Brewers' group
Fishing group Weekly swimming group
Liaison group for sick members Monthly bulletin
Bowls group Fellowship
Singing Group - The Warblers  

Prospective members are encouraged to contact our president through our mail box no. 2008 Lower Sandy Bay, 7005, following which contact will be made.
